Santee MATRIX Soccer requently asked questions

Which age group or team is my child eligible for?

MATRIX Soccer Teams are formed for Boys and Girls separately based on player birth years.

No Co-ed teams. For example, your daughter born in 2004 would play for the Girls 2004 Team.

The Girls 2004 team would consist of Girls born January 1, 2004 through December 31, 2004.

Can my child play up?

Players are permitted to try-out for a team that is one age group up. For example, your daughter born in 2006 wishes to play for the Girls 2005 Team. In this case your daughter is welcome to attend tryouts and would be evaluated for the 2005 team.

Do I have to attend all tryouts?

Ideally, yes. The more the coaching staff gets a chance to evaluate your child’s ability, the more likely they are to accurately assess the player's ability.

Should parents attend try-outs?

Parents are encouraged to watch the try-out sessions but do not have to be present.  Each player is expected to be accompanied by an adult.

How soon will I know if I make the team?

Coaches will contact each player and/or family directly or via phone call. Players invited to join Santee MATRIX Soccer teams will be given a deadline to verbally commit to joining the team.

What if I’m out of town and can’t attend the tryouts?

You must contact the Program Director in this case. Coaches must be able to see the player play or make other arrangements in order to be selected to a team.

What should I bring to tryouts?

Come prepared to train with a soccer ball, cleats, shin guards, and water.

What if it rains during tryouts?

In the case of inclement weather, check the  Santee MATRIX Soccer website or Facebook site for alternate tryout dates.

I made the team, what’s next?

Each team will have a meeting following tryouts to prepare for the upcoming season. At this time, volunteers will be selected (manager, treasurer, etc) and also team budgets, tournaments, and practice schedules will be discussed. Some teams will train in the summer, but that will vary team to team.

How much will it cost to play with Santee MATRIX?

Cost will vary team-to-team and age-group to age-group and will also depend on the number of tournaments that the team and coach decide to attend. Cost information will be available at tryouts and specifics will be visited during the first team meeting. Registration rates are set in January each year but there are player costs in addition to registration.  Some costs are optional while other are not.

When will I have to pay my first fee?

The first payment of your registration fee will be due at the first team meeting. The balance of the registration fee will be broken up payments and must be paid in full no later than May 25th.

How soon will practice begin after try-outs?

Some teams will train the week immediately following tryouts while others will begin a few weeks following, varying team to team.

What days will my team practice and where?
